Rachel's 3 Year Update

I missed posting this last year....so here's a comparison between her 2 year check up and 3 year check up:

2 Years Old / 3 Years Old
32 1/4 lbs / 40 lbs
35 inches / 38 1/2 inches

She's about 95% for weight/75% for height. Which is right about where she's been since she was born.

We're now starting a sticker chart to try and reward non-tantrum behavior. I thought they were called the terrible 2s, not the 3s??

But a really cool development is that Rachel can kinda, sorta read. She likes to do "letters" which consists of her picking a word and typing it out on the computer. She definitely recognizes words when you read to her too. We read about 3-5 books every day. Right now we're on the second round of the children's Bible I got her for Christmas. We both love the Old Testament stories.

Which brings me to another point - all the stories are about signs and plagues, etc. If they wrote a modern day Bible, would they put all the modern tragedies in this context? Hmm. Food for thought.

Anyhow, Rachel is a chatter box and loves to make up stories. But her favorite game is making you food. She loves to make pretend cookies, cakes, etc. She has a kitchen set and pretend food that gets a lot of use. Who knows? Maybe she'll be a chef. I encourage her to help in the kitchen since I was always so intimidated by it when I was her age - and now!! My mom was such a good cook, I really felt I had no right to even try. Plus it kind of stresses me out. How do you time all those side dishes with the entree?

So that's the three year update. Rachel's hair is pretty long now, but you would never know it because it's so curly. And she has the best laugh I've ever heard. :)
