Mommy Do It
I've never met a kid so obsessed with their mom than my Rachel. When she was 7/8 months old, it wasn't separation anxiety for her parents - it was mommy anxiety. And since then, it's continued.
We'll get out of the car, Johnny, me and Rachel, and he'll go to unbuckle her seat belt. "No! Mommy Do It!" She'll demand.
Or she'll cry in the middle of the night and have to be put back to bed - which since I came back from Omaha - has been every. single. night. (except twice). Johnny will head up the stairs - "NO! I want Mommy!" So even though he's trying to help me sleep, nope, Rachel won't have it. A tired mommy is a good mommy to her I guess.
Only mommy is allowed to bathe her, put her to sleep, help her with the potty, etc.
I keep wondering if her obsession will tail off about 12/13 when she goes through the whole "my mom is ridiculously old fashioned" stage. Who knows.
Her obsession with me is a big reason why we switched schools. Every morning was traumatic. She'd lay down and flail herself on the floor when I'd get ready to leave. I told the teachers there that "Hey, if I was your mom, wouldn't you be upset too?" They didn't seem to get I was joking.
Maybe I'm not - maybe I am really that great.
Ha ha ha ha ha
